     In the late 70’s the draft horse industry was starting to gain popularity and make a come back. Two friends discussed the need for a central marketplace where the buyer and seller could come together and market or purchase draft horses and equipment. Confirmed with a handshake, H & B Horse Sales Inc. was founded by Tom Harrower of Cheyenne, Wyoming, and Chuck Bonomo or Rock Springs, Wyoming. 

     The “First Annual” H & B Horse Sale was held in the fall of 1980, on Thanksgiving weekend. It had 12 consigners and lasted 2 days. In 1992, due to supply and demand, the annual fall H & B Horse Sale grew into a 3-day event. Since that time, this annual sale accommodates upwards of 175 sellers and attracts 800-1200 potential and serious buyers per sale. The H & B Horse Sale is the largest annual auction sale for farm and ranch antiques, wagons and buggies, cowboy collectibles, along with draft and saddle horses in the western United States. The annual sale is always held in the “heated” indoor arena of the Sweetwater Events Complex in Rock Springs, Wyoming. 

     Through the years, H & B Horse Sale has brought many buyers and sellers together, and has had the opportunity to offer many high quality collections and outstanding individual pieces to the public. H & B Horse Sales Inc. has been instrumental in providing many pieces of “Western American History” to both public and private museums, dealers and collectors. 

     Only selected high quality auctioneers, who are experts in their fields, from across the county are hired. Due to the high quality items and large sale inventories, buyers and sellers come from 25 to 30 different states and several foreign countries to buy that special item or sell their treasure and collections. 

     As the demand grows for cowboy collectibles, antiques and historic items, H & B Horse Sale management is striving and searching for new markets and sale opportunities to accommodate the buyer and seller. With over 2 decades of annual sales, years of experience and knowledge, H & B Horse Sales Inc. has had the opportunity to offer at public auction, many high quality items and collections from throughout the United States.
